There were quite a lot of rumours about upcoming HTC Sense and Android 4.2.2 update for HTC One and HTC Butterfly. All were expecting HTC Sense 5.1 to show up, but instead, the version of HTC UI in latest Android 4.2.2 update is still 5.0. However, it does have a lot of important changes. Let me introduce few of them.
1. % battery icon
Finally! The most popular modification in custom ROMs of all kind. Now you can enable it under Settings ---> Power ---> Show battery level.
2. Android EQS
HTC did a great job by incorporating Android native EQS. You can switch it by tapping on the EQS icon in the upper right corner of the notification menu.
3. Android Daydream
Another Android 4.2.2 feature included in latest HTC update.
4. Long press home button works as menu button.
Its been very popular modification in HTC One custom ROMs. Now its by default added to Android 4.2.2 update as well.
5. Minor changes in the app drawer and dock
Now you can remove all the icons from the dock, which wasnt possible in HTC Sense 5.0 we had in Android 4.1.2. Also, after moving some particular icon to the dock, it wont be gone from the app drawer.

Back in 2011, we announced the deprecation of the following APIs: Google Patent Search API, Google News Search API, Google Blog Search API, Google Video Search API, Google Image Search API. We supported these APIs for a three year period (and beyond), but as all things come to an end, so has the deprecation window for these APIs.
We are now announcing the turndown of the above APIs. These APIs will cease operations on February 15, 2016.
You may wish to look at our Custom Search API as an alternative for these APIs.

Since we launched Drive for Work 9 months ago, weve watched as more and more businesses moved to the cloud and seen that they prioritize data security as much as we do. Security ranks at the top of the list of concerns that companies have about moving to the cloud, which is why weve put security front and center in our products from the beginning. And to keep your companys data even more secure in Drive, were launching new sharing controls, alerts and audit events to Google Drive for Work and Google for Education over the next several weeks.
For Google Drive for Work customers:
Set sharing settings by department Sometimes different file settings make sense. You might, for example, have a research department that needs to keep information confidential and a sales team that needs to share presentations with their clients. To help manage these different sharing needs, now when you make selections in Drive settings from the Admin console, you can turn off sharing outside the domain for one organizational unit, while still allowing others to work and share files with anyone they need to.
Create custom Drive alerts and track more events with Drive audit
To keep track of when specific actions are taken in Drive, you can set up custom Drive alerts. So if you want to know when a file containing the word confidential in the title is shared outside the company, now youll know. And there are more events coming to Drive audit, including download, print and preview.
For all Google Apps for Work customers:
Set up custom admin alerts to find out when things change
There are lots of moving parts to running a company, and now its easier for IT to find out about the things they care about with custom alerts like when a new app is installed or a shared calendar is deleted and get those right in their inbox.
Let people reset their own passwords Recovering passwords isnt the most pleasant thing we do in our lives. But now IT can let employees securely reset their own passwords, so they dont lose valuable time being locked out of their account. If this doesnt make sense for your organization, admins can simply turn this ability off.
Available for all to use:
Disable downloading, printing and copying of any file with IRM With Information Rights Management (IRM) you can disable downloading, printing and copying from the advanced sharing menu perfect for when the file youre sharing is only meant for a few select people. This new option is available for any file stored in Google Drive, including documents, spreadsheets and presentations created in Google Docs.
Share quickly with anyone outside your organization When it comes to sharing, like giving final inventory lists to your caterer or last minute logos to your design agency, you want to make sure people can see it right away whether they use Drive or not. Now, you can share with any email address and theyll be able to view the files you share without having to sign-in to a Google account. Admins can disable this feature for certain departments that want to require sign-in before , while enabling it for others.
All the above are rolling out over the next month.
Stay tuned for more Were also working on the ability to establish trusted domains, so businesses and schools that have multiple Google Apps domains or want to work with trusted partners or customers, can select multiple Google Apps domains that are OK to share with from Drive and Classroom. And on expiring access, because occasionally you only want to share files for a temporary amount of time. With expiring access you can set a future date when access will be removed. Stay tuned, theres more to come from Drive and Drive for Work.
Just few days ago HTC announced the new HTC One (M8) Harman & Kardon Edition. The HTC One (M8) Harman & Kardon edition has been designed for consumers who appreciate high-quality audio and want the best smartphone on the market without compromise. Its a special edition of the critically acclaimed HTC One (M8) that builds upon the iconic all-metal design in a new brushed black finish with champagne accents, and is another example of HTCs commitment to offer the best audio experience on a smartphone.
Today we present you how to enjoy this revolutionary audio experience on your regular HTC One (M8).
First of all it seems that the changes between the regular M8 and the M8 H&K Edition are only or mainly software related. We believe that the sound processor is the same in both units, however the firmware of that sound processor is probably different. To such conclusion led us the particular part of the M8 Sprint firmware.zip package called adsp.img (Advanced Digital Sound Processor) which is usually the same between each device variants and stays the same since the first device software release date, but in this case it was different. We found out that the adsp.img from the Sprint HTC One M8 was different to the others One M8 variants so its probably needed for a proper H&K sound mod function.
The rest of the changes are located on /system partition:
system/customize/ACC/default.xml

false
has to be changed to

true
to make the OS "think" that youre actually using the H&K M8 Edition. This boolean item wasnt present in the early HTC One M8 1.24.401.4 software version.
system/etc/tfa/playbackHM.* / playbackHM_l.* files which are mostly related to the equalizer settings
system/etc/audio_policy.conf tuned for higher sampling_rate values (up to 192000)
system/lib and system/lib/hw libraries, mostly related to the part of the SoC responsible for the audio
This all might sound a little bit complicated, but in fact it was just an explanation about the changes that are required software-wise to enable the H&K support on the regular HTC One M8.
The tricky part is that to flash adsp.img on international version of the HTC One M8 youll need to have Security OFF (S-OFF) device. Without S-OFF you can only update files located on the system partition on your device. Below you can find proper ZIP packages that are suppose to be flashed using custom recovery. First one (for S-OFF devices) together with system partition will also update the adsp.img. The other one (for S-ON devices) will update only system files, however you might not notice any sound improvements without the adsp.img. It seems that leaked yesterday pictures of the HTC M7 were not a fake. Today we have another portion of a promising photos, this time published by androidpolice.com.

Watermark on the screen makes those images trustworthy. Its a common watermark used by HTC in beta-software. Looking at the lock-screen I can say that HTC 5.0 is not that minor update as some have stated. I must say Im getting more and more excited about it. And this is the back of the device:

The back of the device seems to be made from the same material as HTC One X+. Actually it looks quite the same with only flash led moved to the other side and slightly different camera body.
There are also more screenshots of HTC Sense 5.0.

The one on the left seems to be some kind of weather app connected with initial setup screen or some social center. In the center and the right you can see more details about incoming software like HTC SDK API or kernel version. The rest is protected by HTC, which is also very common in beta-software. It looks quite promising, dont you think so?

India has an interesting handset market, Apples stupidly high prices just dont cut the mustard there so midrange Android phones very do well. Sony have had some success there as have HTC, Sony has also released some India only bits of hardware - annoyingly so too.
There is a great flurry of incoming handsets from Indian manufacturers, while support and warranty might be an issue (not to mention Insurance) you can import them low cost. Since the local currency is on its ass, there are some bargains to be had. Talking of which.
Bargain
Xolo has announced a new Android handset to their range with the launch of the Xolo Q1000S, the handset will come with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
The Xolo Q1000S features a 5 inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, processing comes in the form of a quad core 1.5Ghz MediaTek processor and it also features 1GB of RAM. Other specifications on the Xolo Q1000S include front and rear facing cameras. On the front of the handset is a 5 megapixel camera, on the back there is a 13 megapixel camera it also comes with 16GB of built in storage. The Xolo Q1000S will be launched in India in the next few weeks, it will retail for the equivalent of $300/ £250
Sony have the Xperia L and M in that kind of target price range, and cost a little more - neither has a quad core CPU or camera on the front or back of that spec. We havent found a decent importer for the phone yet but once we do, We will update here - so check back.
In the Xbox 360 version of Age of Cona, "Funcom has implemented even more brutal fatalities into the game, including a melee slash."
Though it wasnt on display, Funcom informed us that an updated graphics tech has been implemented into Age of Conan, called Cheetah 2, which they claim drastically improves framerates.
Operation Narnia is a partnership with the Samaritan's Purse program, 'Operation Christmas Child', to bring the joy of Christmas to kids all over the world! Operation Narnia is the perfect opportunity for family and friends to spread cheer and hope to needy boys and girls in over 130 countries. With our help, their goal is to deliver more than 8 million shoe boxes, filled with items that will be meaningful to a child, such as toys, stuffed-toy animals, school supplies, hard candy, and hygiene items. These gifts-filled shoe boxes are delivered to local collection centers around the country and shipped in time for the Christmas season! ~ Operation Narnia
'The Voyage of the Dawn Treader' is another of C.S. Lewis' stories in The Chronicles of Narnia series. The Dawn Treader is a Narnian ship upon which the movie's characters Lucy Pevensie, Edmund Pevensie, their cousin Eustace, their friend King Caspian, and Reepicheep (a warrior mouse) all find themselves to be traveling. Along their adventurous journey they encounter mysterious islands, magical creatures, a river that turns to gold, sinister enemies and a reunion with their beloved protector and great friend, Aslan, the Great Lion.
Excited for the new incoming Sony Honami which looks set to be announced, washed ashore sometime in September - the spec sheet is almost pornographic in nature. The price will be just as obscene too, although will it be more expensive that the ridiculous prices Apple charge for an off plan iPhone, we doubt that.
Import
In the UK at least no Moto X - however you can import one from welectronics.com at a cost of $800+ which is around £600, plus you will be asked to pony up another 20% in VAT when it lands on your doorstep. No choices in colour or config, so its black or black. Motorola have said some Euro bound handsets later this or early next year. On the subject of Motorola, the new Ultra HD is also at welectronics.com which can be had in black or a very nasty red. This replaced the RAZR HD which didnt make it to the UK either. Guessing Verizon / Vodafone deal stopped it. We have covered the arrival of the LG G2 - which impressive as it is maybe too close in spec for the Nexus 5, which rumor whores have been enjoying the tugowar between stories of this and that manufacturer. Exciting having 2 phones coming to the market from LG whatever. Talking of LG, the LG G Pro again a handset that never made the UK can be had for a reasonable £350 / $500 negrielectronics.com Sony Ultra Z is here but who wants a screen or handset that big, goes beyond practical - maybe fine for home or sat nav/GPS purposes. Which handsets are you looking forward to !?
Over the weekend, some images of the Sony Xperia D6503 popped up on XDA. Which many of us believed it was the device that had been codenamed “Sirius” but we weren’t for sure. Now we’re seeing more screenshots of the device which shows specs, and much more.
Apparently the D6503 is indeed the Sirius device, and is coming with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processor, which is clocked at 2.3GHz. There’s also the Adreno 330 GPU inside. There’s also said to be a 5.2-inch 1080p Full HD display (likely a Triluminos display) along with a 20.7MP camera on the back and a 2.1MP shooter around front. There’s also 3GB of RAM on board. Which makes it only the second device to sport 3GB of RAM, the first being the Galaxy Note 3. As the Xperia Blog is pointing out, in the screenshots,it shows that the device has a 4.86-inch display. But that appears to not be counting the on-screen navigation at the bottom. Which altogether should still be 5.2-inches.
You’ll notice that the build on this device is from Android 4.3. But again, according to the Xperia Blog, this is an old build and that there is a new firmware version 17.1.A.X.XXX which is Android 4.4.2 KitKat So it looks like we will indeed be seeing Android 4.4.2 launch on this device which is a great thing. Especially since KitKat updates have been going out pretty quickly lately. There are also plenty of changes to the UI, which I’m guessing we’ll see make their way to other Sony devices when they get the Android 4.4 update. Which you can see in the screenshots down below.
This is looking more and more like the Xperia Z2, with a 5.2-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 800, and more, are you likely to pick this one up when it’s announced? Let us know in the comments below.
